SWINDON drug rehabilitation charity has received £2,715 thanks to the fundraising efforts of a town centre building contractor.
John Sisk & Son, a Birmingham-based contractor working on the construction of the new car park in Islington Street, joined forces with its sub-contractors to raise the sum.
The money was donated to Service User Swindon Team (SUST), a crime reduction charity working with drug users that will use the money to refurbish St Mark’s Church in Church Place.
Martin Driscoll, senior contracts manager at John Sisk, and Adam Growcott, site manager at Islington Street, met with Anna Kyson of SUST in April and offered to assist with the refurbishment of the church hall, which is used as a drop-in centre by the charity.
SUST has been using the funds to offer a range of activities and services.
Anna said: “This is a very much-needed resource in Swindon for vulnerable people to come and engage, be heard and get support.”
