Council seeks ideas for neighbourhood plan
6:20pm Wednesday 16th October 2013 in News
WROUGHTON Parish Council is calling for residents to voice their ideas for the neighbourhood plan.
The parish council has been working with Vision4Wroughton and has applied to Swindon Council for permission to start working on the plan, which will set out how the parish will develop.
The plan will include how to preserve the character of the area, maintain its separation from Swindon, where new homes could be built, and how to protect and enhance local facilities and employment.
Brian Phillips, chairman of Vision4Wroughton, is part of the Wroughton plan working group.
He said: “Vision4Wroughton produced a community strategy in 2005 and it will be great to be able to work with the whole village on a new plan.
The neighbourhood plan will give the people of the village a chance to have a real input into how Wroughton develops in the long term.”
Paul Hurst, chairman of Wroughton Parish Council, said: “We want to ensure that the village continues to be an attractive place to live with the facilities that our residents want.”
The group are now calling for residents to contribute their ideas into the plan.
Once Swindon Council has approved the proposal the first stage will be a full consultation with residents.
The plan will then be drafted and finally voted on by the community.
