Cyclist hurt in crash
7:30pm Wednesday 30th October 2013 in News
THERE were heavy delays for commuters this morning following a collision between a cyclist and a car at the Mead Roundabout in Bridgemead.
The incident happened at 7.30am on a pedestrian crossing, leading to the closure of the roundabout.
The car involved was a black Vauxhaull Vectra which suffered severe damage to the windscreen due to the impact, although the driver was not hurt.
Traffic was held up for more than an hour while emergency services attended the scene to assess the level of damage.
A rapid response vehicle attended immediately and was later backed up by an ambulance.
The cyclist, a man in his late 20s, was taken to Great Western Hospital with a suspected broken collar bone and grazes to the knee.
Police are appealing for witnesses, including the female driver of a small silver car, who was travelling from the Rodbourne direction towards Bridgemead, to get in touch as she may have spoken to the driver of the Vectra.
Anyone with information should call the non-emergency police line on 101.
