A spokeswoman for the Met Office has said that the worst of the weather will hit Swindon either in the late afternoon or early evening.
She said: “The worst of the weather will probably hit at about what would normally be the rush hour. We are expecting to see some very heavy rain fall and winds of up to 50mph.
“We would advise all drivers to take extra precaution when out on the roads as the spray will be severe and reduce visibility.”
Police have warned people to take care when driving along Queens Drive, near George Gay Gardens, as there is a small amount flooding. The water is deceptively deep so drivers should slow down when approaching it.
