WILTSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Swindon.

The incident took place in Okus Road, Old Town, shortly before 2am on December 21.

A lone female was walking home when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male attacker.

He tugged her around the neck and she was pulled to the ground.

The man is described as white, about 30 years old, approximately 5ft 10ins tall with short fair hair and wearing dark clothing.

Wiltshire Police Detective Constable Matt Lewis said: “The female victim was walking home which was only a short distance from her leaving a friend.

“The victim was dragged backwards which caused her to fall and injure her elbow.

“She managed to fight him off. The man then ran off towards Bath Road.

“The victim was terrified about what this man was going to do and bravely fought him off.

“I am appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at this time who may have seen this assault to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
