Worry over plans for 100 homes on Wroughton greenfield site

PLANS for more than 100 homes on a greenfield site in Wroughton have been submitted – but residents are concerned.

Following a pre-application consultation, issues including water supply, access, availablity of parking and increased traffic were raised with developers Hannick Homes for the site east of Marlborough Road.

Agents Hunter Page, acting on behalf of the developers, said revisions have been made but do not address every concern.

Jamie Page, associate at Hunter Page, said: “We have now brought the number of houses down from 110 to 103, which will increase buffers, particularly on the southern edge of the site and around the houses on Marlborough Road itself.

“We have included some increased car parking spaces for the residents on Marlborough Road, and we have a scheme in as part of the application which should address the concerns of people who thought traffic speeding would increase.

“There are traffic calming schemes and we are still providing car parking within the site. We will also have some parking availability so that people living on Marlborough Road who do not currently have car parking will have access via the rear of their properties.

“The site of the application has not changed in terms of it being a greenfield site. The planning authority will consider whether there are alternative sites that would be better to deliver the housing, but we do not think any exist which could be delivered in the time scale of this site.

“I am sure people will still raise their concerns, which is their right to do.”

Can't sell the houses 1mile away ,( The Front Garden) but want to build on a green field site? Council need to sort FG out as this is going to cost us the tax payers dear, and not let chancers carve up the country side.
