CHILDREN will soon benefit from increased awareness of sport thanks to a deal between The Brunel shopping centre and Swindon’s local Ice hockey team.

The Brunel shopping centre has announced it will sponsor Wildcats in the Community, the not-for-profit organisation linked to Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Team.

Jane Stewart, marketing manager at The Brunel, said: “When I heard about the Wildcats in the Community programme I realised straightaway that The Brunel should be involved in supporting this great initiative.

"Being based in the town centre The Brunel is at the heart of Swindon’s community and as a business we firmly believe in supporting worthwhile local community programmes such as this.

"We’re delighted to be able to help the Wildcats bring sport and healthy lifestyle messages to so many young people.”

Running since 2008, Swindon Wildcats in the Community is one of the largest community projects of its kind in the UK, reaching about 350 children every week.

The financial support from The Brunel has enabled the Wildcats to take on its first community apprentice, Robbie Pamphilon. See www.thebrunel.co.uk.
