THE Sam Morshead column will no longer be appearing in Swindon Town FC’s matchday programme.

The Adver’s chief sports writer was informed of the decision by the Robin’s management late last month after his last column appeared on Valentine’s Day.

The 400-word column, provided free to the club, started at the beginning of last season and, since the start of this season, was provided on an alternate basis with the BBC.

Sam, pictured, has not been told why the decision was made but understands it was an editorial decision.

It is not the first time the club have moved against the paper this year. In January the club’s owner Lee Power banned the Adver from covering games at the County Ground. The ban lasted a little over a week before talks between the editor and Power saw the ban lifted.

When the Adver contacted the club for comment yesterday a spokesman said: “The club doesn’t wish to make any comment on this matter.”
