RAIL passengers are facing delays this evening after a person was hit by a train.

A First Great Western spokesman said the incident happened at Kemble and services between Swindon and Cheltenham have been affected.

Tickets are being accepted on CrossCountry Bristol Temple Meads to Cheltenham Spa services.

All lines are closed with journey times likely to be extended by up to 60 minutes.

Trains may be able to divert via Bristol and buses are operating between Swindon and Gloucester.

There is no estimate for when a normal service will resume.
