SPECIAL measures school St Joseph’s Catholic College is continuing to impress inspectors.

Inspector Simon Rowe said the quality of teaching had improved significantly, but an external review of governance should be carried out.

“The academy has a relentless focus on improving the quality of teaching,” he said.

“Teaching has improved considerably and this is now leading to raised achievement.

“A link with an outstanding school has provided developmental work for all staff. A local academy is about to commence working with some teachers over a short period of time to improve the quality of their teaching.”

Paul Hughes, principal of St Joseph’s, said: “We are very pleased that Ofsted have seen the changes we have made and commented so favourably on the work being done.

“There are always aspects which can be improved further, and we need to ensure areas such as marking are consistent across the college.

“I would like to thank colleagues who have really worked hard.”
