SCHOOLCHILDREN in Wroughton have thanked the local community for saving Kings Farm Wood in a series of thoughtful letters.

Six youngsters from Wroughton Junior School contacted Wroughton Parish Council to share their thoughts on the woodland.

Earlier this month the community reached their target of £30,000 to save the wood from developers after a number of different fundraisng activities, including table top sales, coffee mornings, gigs, and the Mile of Money event.

A spokesman from Wroughton Parish Council said: “Sometimes a small community of people can achieve something rather wonderful. Sometimes ‘people power’ and perseverance can bring about positive change for the future. Sometimes we are reminded that Wroughton is a very special place to live. The children decided that they would like to celebrate and send a sincere thank you to all who took part in the appeal.”
