160 APPEAL: Staff quiz discovers brains of the outfit
Updated 1:34pm Friday 4th April 2014 in News
ADVER staff sent their grey matter into overdrive all in support of the 160 Appeal for Prospect Hospice at a high-pressure pub quiz.
Around 30 staff raised £121 at the newspaper’s very first charity event for the Wroughton hospice at Mackenzies in Old Town on Monday, spending their cash on much-needed quiz jokers and strings of raffle tickets.
After seven heated rounds, including a somewhat puzzling music intro section, the Super Mario Brothers scooped the champion’s trophy.
The quiz was the first in a series of challenges reporters are poised to embark on throughout the year including The Dragon Boat Race, Prospect’s Big Swim, Big Bike and Starlight Walk, and ballroom competition Let’s Dance. Daredevils among the team will also jump off a plane 10,000ft above ground at one of charity’s skydive events.
Gary Lawrence, Adver editor, said: “We had a lot of fun and it was great to see our editorial, advertising and sales and marketing teams enjoying themselves together while raising money for the Prospect 160 Appeal. I’d also like to thank the staff at Mackenzies for looking after us so well.
“This was our first event and we’ll do many more throughout the year. If we can do it then other offices and businesses in Swindon can do the same.”
