ROYAL Wootton Bassett Rugby Club’s Under 8s team welcomed a very special coach to training at their grounds in Ballards Ash yesterday evening.

Alec Adams, an honorary life member at the Rugby Club of Royal Wootton Bassett, said: “Everybody was extremely excited about it.

“It all started after one of our U8 players went on the Lions Tour and happened to meet Shane and asked him if he would come and do a coaching session, and Shane agreed that he would if he was able to.

“It’s just fantastic that he was able to come along and everybody has been really looking forward to it.

“It’s just very generous of some one of his expertise to come along and spend time with us”

Shane arrived with Bristol coach Sean Holley and, after leading the training session and tucking into some refreshments he took the time to take part in a question and answer session and offer advice to the young players.

Alec said: “We expected a lot of youngsters and their parents to come along to take part in the training session and there were a lot of older members who came along too.”
