TWO thieves attempting to steal barrels of diesel from Groundwell Industrial Estate have been apprehended after quick thinking from a member of the community and patrol guards from local company TrustOn Security.

The incident, which took place in the evening of Friday, April 18, was witnessed by a resident whose property backs on to the estate. The quick-thinking resident immediately called TrustOn Security who alerted the police, but the thieves managed to make a swift getaway.

The two men then returned later that night; at which time managers from TrustOn Security working in collaboration with residents of the estate and the police were able to identify the assailants which led to arrests being made.

A close watch is being kept for two further suspects and one company has decided to reinforce its security on the estate following heightened risk of incidents.

Residents in and around the estate are asked to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police or TrustOn Security.

Wiltshire Police issued a public warning regarding fuel thefts last month after 30-plus incidents of the theft or attempted theft of fuel since the start of the year.
