1ST MOREDON Brownies stunned pack leaders and local charities with their huge fundraising efforts as part of the Big Brownie Birthday Challenge.
To celebrate 100 years of Guiding, Brownies across the country have been taking part in various challenges, and the Moredon pack spent six weeks collecting for local charities in their sixes for the Prospect Hospice, Swindon Foodbank, Swindon Downs Syndrome Society and Greyhound & Lurcher Trust.
Brown Owl Sacha Macieszonek and her team of leaders at the pack were overwhelmed with their Brownies’ efforts.
She said: “I was overwhelmed by the Brownies’ enthusiasm and their efforts, and they did far more than I ever expected they would without our help.
“They didn’t want our help, they used their own initiative and their own ideas and did everything themselves. One Brownie even wrote to Pets At Home asking if they could make a donation.”
The youngsters raised more than £115.13 for Prospect Hospice, 107.4 kg of food for the Swindon Foodbank – equivalent to 126 meals – more than £150 worth of goods for the Greyhound & Lurcher Trust and crates of jumble sale donations for the Swindon Downs Syndrome Society.
