THE police helicopter and a ground unit were dispatched in Haydon Wick to track down a teenage boy who had broken into a property.

At around 3.10pm on Tuesday the occupant of the house woke up to discover the boy inside their house. He then made off out a window.

Police were unable to locate him after he rode off on a pushbike.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “The helicopter was up to assist with locating a male who had broken into a house on Burnet Close. The victim woke up to find the male inside the house, he then climbed out of the bathroom window and rode off.

“The suspect is described as a white male, aged approximately 15 or 16, with thick dark hair, wearing a white top and cut-off trousers. He rode off on black mountain bike.

“The helicopter and ground unit were unable to locate the suspect.”

Any witnesses are asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101.
