EASTCOTT Community Organisation is celebrating a fresh look for Savernake Street Social Hall this week, after a team from the Midcounties Co-operative have revamped the centre.

The Co-op visited in May and painted the small hall, which gave it a bright new look. Over two days this week, a team of 18 staff from three stores around Swindon have now painted the larger hall, the entrance way and corridor.

Caroline Davies-Khan, Chair of Eastcott Community Organisation, said: “We are delighted with the involvement of the Midcounties Co-operative, who have worked really hard to paint the hall.

“Everywhere looks really bright now. Since the team painted the small hall, lots of people have commented how good it looks. With the bigger hall painted, the hall is looking really fresh and smart.

“We took over community management of the hall in May, and are looking to increase the number of groups and individuals using it. It’s an ideal venue for a range of community activities, meetings and children’s parties, and we’d love to hear from people who would like to view the space.

Sean Varney, manager of the Co-op in Old Town, said: “It’s great to have been able to help, and the Co-op team have really enjoyed the project. We carried out fundraising to raise money to buy paint and it’s been brilliant to see the community hall looking much brighter now the team have finished.”
