A CAR struck the side of Moredon Community Centre this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 6.38am following reports that a car had hit the building, in The Street.

The driver of the car, a black Lexus, was a 30 year old male. He was conscious and breathing when police and paramedics arrived and was not injured.

The fire service were also called as the car was smoking.

The crash has caused damage to an extension of the community centre.

A building inspector is set to attend to ensure the building is safe.

Julie Gilbert, Secretary of the Moredon & Rodbourne Cheney Community Association (MRCCA), said the centre will open for business as usual this weekend.

She added: "Once the office where the crash occurred has been made secure, all bookings for the hall will be honoured and not affected as we have three parties booked and would like to reassure people that they can carry on as planned."

Anyone with information on the incident should call police on 101.
