POLICE have completed searches at a house formerly home to Christopher Halliwell.

A team of more than 40 staff carried out meticulous searches of the entire house, in Ashbury Avenue, Swindon, looking for anything that might be related to the murder of Becky Godden-Edwards.

DCI Sean Memory said: "Work is now complete at the house and a number of items have been sent for forensic analysis.

"The results of these tests are expected to take some weeks.

"The investigation continues and further lines of enquiry have been developed following the new witnesses who came forward as a result of the activity this week.

"We are extremely grateful to everyone who has assisted us, the residents in Ashbury Avenue have been very supportive and we hope that the disruption has not caused too much inconvenience.

"This week has been very stressful for the occupants of the house, who have no involvement in the investigation, and we are very appreciative for their co operation.

"We will continue to work closely with Becky's family and keep them updated with our progress."

He said officers were still keen to hear from anyone who may have seen Becky in the Christmas and New Year period of 2002, 2003.

"I am pleased with the response from the public to our latest appeal but I would still urge anyone who has information about Becky's disappearance to come forward," he added.

"There will be people out there who saw her over the Christmas 2002/ New Year 2003 period and these people may hold vital details which could help us with this investigation.

"I can assure callers that information will be taken in the strictest confidence."

Superintendent Andrew Carr said: "I would like to reiterate DCI Memory's appeal and urge the community of Swindon to come forward with any information they have.

"I would also like to thank local residents for their understanding throughout this week. The searches at this property were a vital part of the investigation which meant that officers were at the location for long hours, residents were very supportive and even provided refreshments to the team which were gratefully received."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where details may be left anonymously if preferred.
