CAR buffs and first-time buyers will be in for a treat next month at the joint Adver and inSwindon Route 66 Motor Show.

Dealerships across Swindon will descend on the town centre on August 13 and 14 with their latest models, offering crowds a sneak preview of upcoming ranges, gadgets and a chance to book test drives, to celebrate the arrival of the new 66 registration plate.

From Mini and BMV to Vauxhall, Renault or Fiat, most major brands will be represented and there will be something to catch the eye of visitors and suit all budgets.

"The 66 plate will only happen once so it seemed fitting to mark this with our own event," said Adver head of advertising Darran Reynolds. "We are really excited to be working with inSwindon and the town's new car dealerships on this. We hope our readers will buy into the concept, get involved and find out about the new cars coming out.

"As a local newspaper our aim is not only to shout out about our town but its local businesses and that's what Route 66 is about."

Dealers already lined up to take part in the weekend festival are: Fish Brothers Renault, Dick Lovett BMW and Mini, Now Vauxhall, TH White Fiat/Alfa Romeo and Jeep, Johnsons Volvo/Mazda and Allen Ford.

They will each showcase two new models by their respective pitches on Canal Walk, along The Parade and Regent Street or at Wharf Green.

And many will have a few surprises and treats up their sleeves.

Fish Brothers Renault will offer buyers £200 worth of accessory vouchers if they seal the deal on a car at the two-day event.

"We just wanted to offer people something more as part of the event," said Fish Brothers' Jo Costin.

"The show is great timing for us; we have new models coming out, the Megane Hatch and Kadjar, so it's a good opportunity for people to see them."

Throughout the weekend, visitors will be invited to pick up a Route 66 card, get it stamped by every participating dealer and enter a draw to win £500 of Love2Shop vouchers.

While cars will take centre stage, there will be no shortage of fun and games for little ones at the family show. From face painting to crafts, there will be plenty to keep children busy and entertained throughout the day.

"We are thrilled to be working in partnership with the Swindon Advertiser and encourage everyone to come along to the Route 66 Motor Show," said Di Powell, inSwindon BID Manager. "You will be impressed with the variety of cars on show in the town centre.”

The event will run from 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday, August 13 and 10am to 3.30pm on Sunday 14.
