CHURCHFIELDS Academy will have a new leader in September.
Acting principal Sandra Muir was this week confirmed as the new head teacher, 17 years after she first joined the school.
New chairman of the governors Jane Hext, a former chief executive of health and safety risk management firm Santia Consulting, said there had been a strong shortlist of candidates and a two-day selection procedure.
“At the end of the process we appointed Mrs Sandra Muir, who we believe to be the best person to lead us forward,” she said.
“I am confident that under Mrs Muir’s leadership, we can go from strength to strength. Mrs Muir has the energy, drive and commitment which Churchfields needs to take us forward and will ensure that we are inspiring and creating futures for all’.
Mrs Muir said: “I feel very privileged and excited to lead Churchfields through the next stage of its journey. I look forward to working closely with our community partners and RWBA to make Churchfields an excellent school that inspires all students to be the best that they can be.”
