A LYDIARD Park Academy pupil said she was ‘shocked and delighted’ as she achieved seven A* grades in her GCSE results.

Chloe Lewis from Grange Park also achieved three A grades and two Bs and even beat older brother James' impressive results from three years ago.

“I was hoping for them but you never know,” she said.

"I thought I’d done quite well in the exam papers and I hoped I would get good grades but it’s still a shock. I’m so happy."

Isabelle Hawkins, from Grange Park, was overwhelmed with emotion as she realised she had achived three A* and eight A grades.

“I feel pretty good, it’s what I was hoping for. It’s a relief more than anything, now I can celebrate,” she said.

Isabelle will study history, psychology and biology at Cirencester College.

There was some further sibling rivalry as Giuseppe Grossi, from Freshbrook, set out to better his brother’s Giovanni’s results from last year.

And Giuseppe achieved his goal with a stunning five As, three Bs and two C grades.

“I feel delighted that I’ve done so well,” he said.

"It’s a great feeling to know that I’ve succeeded and did my best,” he said.

Abinash Rajendrakumar said he breathed a sigh of relief when he unwrapped his amazing results of six As, four Bs and one C.

“I’m so happy that I got this many As, it is really unexpected. It’s a relief to know that I did well and it means I can study what I want next month,” he said.

Abinash is off to Cirencester College to study maths, chemistry and music.

Elisha Rose, from Freshbrook, surpassed her expectations as she passed her exams with an A in ICT and B in textiles.

“I’m proud of myself, I never thought I’d get an A but I had such a good teacher so I’m really proud. The results are exactly what I wanted,” she said.

“I can’t wait to go out for a meal to celebrate tonight.”

Elisha will head to New College next month to study beauty therapy.

Principal Clive Zimmerman said he was delighted with the 158 students’ performances in their exams.

“We’re just really pleased, it shows how strong the teaching staff and the students are. It is record results today," he said.

“We have seen an increase of two per cent to 80 per cent of students getting A* to C in English, and two per cent again to 78 per cent in maths which is great news

“To see the students achieve and exceed their potential is what this school is all about.”
