HUNDREDS of pairs of slippers worth hundreds of thousands of pounds have been stolen in a burglary at a Swindon factory.

The Mahabis slippers, which retail at between £69 and £149, were taken after the building on the Groundwell Industrial Estate was broken into between 4am and 6.30am today.

Police believe the thieves, who got in by breaking through a metal fence and forcing a stockroom door, must have used a van to take them away.

PC Shaun Barlow, from Swindon police, said the slippers were distinctive and officers wanted to hear from anyone who might see them for sale, possibly online.

He said: "We would urge people to take a look at the photographs and keep an eye out for them for sale.

"These types of slippers are only sold through the main Mahabis dealer website, so any found on third party sites such as Facebook, Gumtree, Trade-It, Amazon or eBay are unlikely to be genuine or may be stolen goods.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity near the industrial estate last night."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Barlow at Gablecross Police Station on 101, or alternatively information can be left anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
