A SWINDON man has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Homeless Joseph Blaxall, 27, was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court yesterday.

Police has spotted a white BMW 1 series pull into an alleyway and stop in Cricklade Road just before 10pm on June 3 last year and a known heroin and crack cocaine user was seen to walk up to the window on the driver’s side.

Andrew Scott, 32, of Lethbridge Road, who was driving, tried and failed to drive off.

Officers were able to detain all those involved for drug searches to be carried out.

Front passenger Blaxall was seen to spit a number of items into a bush as he was removed from the car and three packages of crack cocaine were located.

He was arrested, along with Scott, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

Blaxall pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier date, while Scott pleaded not guilty but a jury found him guilty of three counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs last week.

He had been using local drug addicts to sell drugs on his behalf and has been jailed for seven years.

Officers also detained Joleen Neal, 36, of Devizes, Road, Wroughton, and a drugs search was carried out.

She had a bundle of wraps of suspected class A drugs, £100 cash and a mobile phone.

The package was found to contain 26 packages of heroin with a total street value of £260. Her phone was found to be the ‘reactivated’ number of a phone seized from Scott.

Neal was jailed for five years and eight months.

Detective Constable George Booth, of the North Dedicated Crime Team, said today: “The trade of hard drugs brings untold misery to those addicted, and has knock on effects throughout our communities.

"I hope that this sends a message out to members of our community that we will seek to identify and prosecute those people responsible for running these kinds of operations, even if they try and remain removed from the actual dealing.

“To report drug activity in your area, please call police on 101.”
