A DRIVER charged with failing to stop after a collision involving two other vehicles in Swindon town centre is to face trial next year.
Wayne Beirne, aged 22, of Park Street, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, appeared before Wiltshire Magistrates sitting in Swindon charged with failing to stop after damaging a Vauxhall Insignia and a Peugeot 306 in Cambria Bridge Road, Swindon, on October 22, 2015.
He is additionally charged that he failed to report the accident, drove without due care and attention and drove otherwise than in accordance with a licence, all on October 22, 2015.
Beirne gave the court no indication of how he would plead to the charges.
After a good deal of technical legal discussion between prosecutor Vyvyan Thatcher and barrister Rebecca Penfold representing Mr Beirne magistrates ordered a trial date of March 6, 2017 at Chippenham Magistrates Court.
There will be a case management hearing in Swindon Magistrates Court on February 15, from which Mr Beirne is excused from attending.
Mr Beirne was released on bail on condition that he has no contact, directly or indirectly, with Dean Vallili.
