Darren Hunt is one of Swindon's hidden gems.
Growing up he played guitar with his drummer dad, Gerry, and brother Jamie in a band called Shred. As a rock trio they were well respected on the Swindon music scene. Sadly Darren's dad died in 2014 and the guitarist is now playing solo.
The guitar wizard will be playing at The New Inn, Swindon Road, Stratton St Margaret, Swindon from 8pm tonight, Friday, December 2.
His varied set includes challenging tracks for guitar from bands such as Lynyrd Skynrd, Metallica, Kings Of Leon, The Foo Fighters, Thin Lizzy, The Shadows and The Monkees.
Alongside his professional performances Darren teaches guitar, he gained his formal teaching certificate from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music and has been passing on his knowledge to young hopefuls for the past 15 years in his own studios. He has also been in demand for teaching guitar in the Musicians Institute in London, for the Music Industries Association, the Swindon Music Co-operative and at schools and colleges.
