A MAN approached two young girls in Eldene on Monday evening before making off when they refused to help him with his car.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the suspicious incident which took place in the square in the Bowleymead and Stubsmead area, near the underpass to Dorcan Way at around 5pm.

The girls, aged eight and nine, were out playing when they were approached by the man.

He said to them: "Can you help me with something in my car?"

The girls refused and started to walk back to one of their home addresses - the man then disappeared.

No car was seen and it is unknown where the man went.

The girls said that the man was hanging around for about 10 minutes before he approached them and didn’t see him with anyone else.

He is described as being Asian in appearance, in his 40s, of average build and height with short, dark hair which was thick on top and stubble on his face.

The man is said to have been wearing a black leather jacket and jeans.

PC Cassey Evans said: "The young girls were very sensible and reported it straight away.

"We are conducting enquiries and need to speak to the man regarding his actions.
