MUSIC from David Bowie to Morecambe and Wise was available to collectors at the Swindon Record and CD Fair on Saturday.

The event, at the Central Community Centre, saw traders selling albums from all genres, as well as iconic postsers of bands including The Clash, Oasis and The Jam.

Hundreds of people attended throughout the day, all keen to bag a bargain.

Organiser Rusty Webb said: “It has been absolutely fantastic, we’ve had a great response and even had someone waiting to get in when we opened at 9am.

“It is great to think that so many people in the town have come out to support this event.

“I think we’ve certainly offered something for all musical tastes with everything from 50s easy listening to dub reggae being stocked.

“I’d really like to thank everyone for coming as well as Central Community Centre for their support.”

One of the traders at the record and CD fair was musician Barry Issac who runs record label Reggae On Top.

He had a stall selling vinyl discs from iconic reggae artists and aspiring musicians.

Barry, who performs with a band called The Royal Kings, said: “The vibe of the day has been really something and I’m delighted that we’ve had such good weather for the event.

“I have been in the music business for 30 years and seen so many changes.

“One of those was the sad demise of vinyl but it has been really encouraging in the last few years to see people coming back to it.

“For me, vinyl is the safest format for music and the one which gives the listener the best sound.

“It has been great to see more and more young people become interested in vinyl over the last couple of years too.”

During Saturday’s event, Rusty announced that a follow up fair would be held at the venue on September 6.

He said: “I had already provisionally got that date lined up but I wanted to see how today went before we confirmed it.

“I’ve been really, really impressed by the turn-out and the response so we are more than happy to hold another fair.”
