NEXT week will see the opening of Pop, a new nightclub which promises to offer something for everyone.

The site is currently occupied by Bushwackers in Fleet Square, which first opened in 2009, but the new owner is promising a new look.

Work has already started on transforming the venue ready for its big opening on November 27, although Bushwackers will still be operating this weekend.

The new owner is hoping Pop will help revive the town centre.

Steven Wilson, 34, said: “I am looking to give the people of Swindon a fun, exciting and safe clubbing experience. It will be a completely different look and I think everyone will like what they see.

“I have been around Swindon, especially Old Town, and I think we can attract people from all over the town.”

Although originally from Birmingham, Steven has spent time working in Swindon. He was a DJ at Liquid and helped put on numerous events, including under-18 nights.

He was named the country’s number one DJ in 2006 and feels he has all the experience necessary to make Pop a success.

“I have worked across the whole spectrum in the clubbing business,” said Steve.

“I felt the time had come to run my own venue so I have taken the lease for the unit and I’m now really looking forward to it. I’m really optimistic.

“Pop will be for everyone.

“Nightclubs have been neglected a bit in Swindon but we will change this and breathe new life into the town centre.”

There will be three flagship nights at Pop, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Pop will also bring new employment opportunities to the town, with more than a dozen jobs created.

“When we first open there will be between ten and 20 new positions and hopefully an extra ten early next year as the business grows,” said Steven.
