A 21-year-old Marlborough man has died after he apparently lost control of the car he was driving and hit a tree in the early hours of this morning.
He has been named locally as Max Pearson.
The incident happened at 5.40am when the silver Renault was travelling along the Grand Avenue in Savernake Forest in a northerly direction from Ramsbury to Marlborough.
Mr Pearson sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car was carrying four passengers, three of whom were seriously injured and were taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon and John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
The remaining passenger was treated for minor injuries.
Marlborough and Pewsey neighbourhood policing team Sergeant Clare Wallace tweeted: "Off duty but been updated on the tragic news of the fatal collision this morning in #marlborough.
"Our thoughts to the families involved."
