OOPS-A-DAISY Childcare have been told they must make improvements following the latest Ofsted report.

The education watchdog said the provision in Kembrey Park needed to make improvements across all three areas, including meeting the children’s needs, the contribution to the well-being of children and the effectiveness of the leadership and management of the provision.

But inspectors also praised the nursery’s commitment to developing independent play, the safeguarding of the children and self-evaluation systems.

They were also impressed with the strong partnerships between parents and staff, and the transfer of information between parties.

In the report inspectors said: “Staff have a suitable understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

“The balance planned between adult-led and child-selected activities for younger children requires improvement.

“Children receive satisfactory levels of support from staff to promote their communication, language and literacy development.

“Children enjoy daily outdoor play where they explore a wide range of interesting resources that aid their physical development.”

Deborah Baigent, managing director at Oops-a-Daisy Childcare, said: “We were disappointed with the findings of the Ofsted report. The points that were raised were for fairly minor issues, and were rectified within 24 hours.

“These points, which mainly concerned the length of snack time for younger children, has overshadowed the hard work which the staff have put in to caring for the children and the positive points raised by inspectors.

“All the staff will continue to work towards making improvements at the provision and I am confident that we will achieve at least a good at the next inspection.”
