SWINDON TOWN: Storey's tough physical test
ALMOST two and a half years after running out in front of the County Ground crowd for the first time, Miles Storey made his full home debut for Swindon Town on Saturday against a Stevenage side he feels is “the most physical team in the league”.
Boro came to Wiltshire with a reputation for drawing their opposition into aerial battles, but Town countered their guests’ gameplan with a first-half display of sumptuous flowing football and claimed all three points thanks to Massimo Luongo’s stunning 25th-minute strike.
For Storey, who made his Swindon bow against Oldham on April 30, 2011 but only started a game in Wiltshire for the first time last weekend, it was a tough test which he was pleased to come through unscathed.
"I enjoyed the other night, today was a completely different game. It was nitty-gritty all the way through. It was a big team, probably the most physical in the league," he said.
"From an attacker's point of view it's tough to play against someone who's so physical, but it's a great three points.
"Mass does that all the time in training so it didn't surprise me when it flew in. It was a passing move we are capable of and I think you'll get used to seeing it.
"Today was all about the three points but performing well and I think we did that. We showed a different side to our game I don't think people thought we had."
