JAZZ Carlin's long-time coach and mentor Bud McAllister is to relocate to Australia with the Commonwealth Games just six months away.

The Swindon freestyle star, who won silver and bronze at Delhi 2010, has been coached by the highly-respected McAllister for seven years.

In addition to guiding the former Swindon Tigershark to three British titles last year, McAllister coached US swimmer Janet Evans to four Olympic titles and an 800m freestyle world record that stood for 20 years.

Carlin, whose training base is in Swansea where her fellow Swindonian Tilly Gray also trains, tweeted this morning: "A couple of days ago I received some bad news, my coach is moving to Australia at the end of February. I was really devastated...

"My priority and focus is still the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this year. My time will be spent in Swansea and Australia for the build up.

"I've been so lucky to have had my coach for the past 7 years and I will be working harder than ever for Glasgow! Thank you for the support!"
