SWINDON Primary Schools FA held their first five-a-side festivals for younger pupils on Friday, January 10 and Friday, January 17 at the Futsal Arena in Kembrey Park.

More than 120 children took part in the events, which were designed for girls and boys between the ages of seven and nine.

Swindon PSFA secretary Steve Beale feels the tournaments are a good way of integrating young children into the sport.

He said: “The emphasis for these festivals is very much on the children having fun and representing their schools, rather than on winning a tournament.

“Each player received a medal and a certificate in recognition of them taking part.

“We are very grateful to all the staff from Ignite Sport UK in helping to run these festivals and to the @Futsal Swindon arena for hosting them.”

The matches were refereed by coaches from Ignite Sport UK, who also gave each team a free one-hour coaching session at the school before the event.
