SWINDON TOWN: Town target Ngoo joins Walsall

Swindon Advertiser: Swindon Town have missed out on the signing of Michael Ngoo Swindon Town have missed out on the signing of Michael Ngoo

SWINDON Town have missed out on signing Liverpool youngster Michael Ngoo after the striker joined Walsall on loan.

Town chairman Lee Power had been chasing the signature of the towering frontman for several weeks and has held talks with his parent club over the possibility of taking Ngoo to the County Ground.

However, Ngoo will now line up for the Robins' League One play-off rivals Walsall.

On Tuesday night, after his side drew 1-1 with the Saddlers, Town manager Mark Cooper admitted he had missed out on a target.

He told the Advertiser: “We were chasing somebody but I believe that person will now be joining another club,” Cooper said.

“We had a list and we’ve tried our hardest.

“What we’re not going to do is bankrupt the football club and put it in the same situation it was in the summer. I’m content to keep working with the guys we’ve got."

Dare I say it but could be the difference between us or Walsall being in the play offs. I guess Walsall has more money than us just a thought.

Or as Power said - once we signed Smith the necessity of getting Ngoo in diminished!
.
Have a feeling he was put on the back burner once Ranger came back in ans and depending on how Ranger pans out - he may join us in the summer
.
Cooper already said he thought it would be hard to get Smith and Ranger in the team together as w enormally play 433 - how would he then add Ngoo in?

Not sure he will be the difference maker.....Walsall are a very decent side anyway. We signed Smith so don't need yet another target man.

Also I don't think Walsall have a target man whereas we have two, so a no brainer for Ngoo to join the side where he'll more likely get a game.

I can't remember the last time Walsall spent £200,000 on a player. I think the lad went for guaranteed 1st team football. We got Smith so the better deal

It coud even be that Liverpool wanted a gaurantee he would be in the match day squad who knows but it will be interesting to see how he gets on all the same.

Unbelievable that he went to Walsall instead of us? Unless it was for guaranteed first team footbal, their average home gate is around 3,000 so it sticks in the throat a bit! And as poor as we are this season I cant believe Walsall have more money than us or pay higher wages.

Who cares about the play offs ? My guess is not many ! A respectable mid-table finish will surely do most of us fine .

Jason puncheon 1 1/2 million, first shock 2dn must be ngog going to Swansea he can't score in a brothel.
Now ive seen smith I think he may be the bargain on transfer day.
Saying that £1 1/2 million for puncheon that must be the bargain of the century for saints. More than Austin. Some clubs deserve to go bankrupt . Palace for paying that much and us for giving players away

Laz they may have more money than us but I will guarantee you be won't score as many as smith and he wouldn't play every game, think he will be a part player them anyway
Smith and ranger best in our league now

Not in the slightest bit concerned about this news. We've just spent decent money on a striker who has already made a valuable contribution. I don't think we need any more strikers.
.
So what if he went to Wallsall? We had money to spend, we spent it, and when we did we severed our interest in this player. This has already been stated by our owner earlier in the week.
.
As for Wallsall having moew money than us? maybe, who knows, but they've just loaned a player and we've just bought one.

Out of a choice of signing Wes Thomas, signing Michael Smith or getting Ngoo in on loan, I think Smith is the best of the 3 choices by a mile. All 3 may be similar in ability and may score goals but Smith is the option where we can make money in a year or two's time.
