Bassett progression satisfies coach Low
ROYAL Wootton Bassett head coach Alan Low was happy with the way his side responded to his criticisms of their performance last week.
Despite their 47-6 win over Milton Keynes, Low had not been happy with parts of Basset’s game and attitude, unleashing some home truths in the changing room.
Low was more content as Bassett racked-up four tries and conceded only three penalties in their 34-9 win over Alchester at Ballard’s Ash.
Gavin Ougen put in a man-of-the-match performance, getting two tries, with further scores from Liam Spillane and Tucker Blinkhorn.
Bassett were unable to find their fluency in a scrappy first half. After the break the home side were able to put together their game and overcome the visitors.
“They slowed our ball at the breakdown in the first half, by the second half we had adapted to that,” Low told the Advertiser.
“We responded really well to the conditions, the players were happy with their performance and by the end I was in a much happier place.”
Low said he is pleased with the way his side are developing.
“We scored more points by this stage of season than we did the whole of last season, though we have conceded more.
“The last two games we haven’t conceded a try so things are on the up.”
