PREDICTIONS LEAGUE: Swindon Town v Rotherham

Last Saturday’s result means that the slim embers of a playoff place were finally extinguished, although the final result was academic with Peterborough’s triumph over the Shrews.

Having already secured a place in the end of season lottery, Rotherham are playing for home advantage in the second leg and a chance for back-to-back promotions. Town are playing for pride. We have put in some good performances against the top clubs, the exception being against Wolves at home, so it should be a tasty encounter.

Love him or hate him, you cannot deny Mark Cooper has not done too bad a job in charge this season. Some thought we were relegation fodder, but others would say we should have finished higher. Whatever you think, injuries, suspensions, poor defending, lack of a cutting edge, bad tactics, poor substitutions, all have given us problems. Yet there have been good performances, individual skills, the coming of age of many of the young players, shrewd tactics, great goals, last gasp goals, all that have sent positive vibes through the club, players and fans alike.

Several of the players will be playing their last game in a Town shirt. Loan spells and contracts will end. Some players will stay; others will go as the revolving doors start to turn again. All we need now is someone to be in control of the way they turn.
