WESTLECOT supply five of the eight players chosen to represent Wiltshire Under 25 men’s side in tomorrow’s opening White Rose Trophy match.

Gary Jackson, Mike Titcombe, Paul Stokes, Mike Richards all form a single rink, while Craig Hatherall is named in the other rink to face Worcestershire at St Dunstan’s Bowls Club (Worcester) in the first round of the Trophy.

Wiltshire have made an excellent start to this season, winning both of their matches to date and lifting the Four Counties U25 Bowls Festival Trophy two weeks ago at Keynsham.

They have not lost on any of the seven rinks that they have contested in the two matches so far - four against Somerset at Paulton and three in the Festival against Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and hosts Somerset.

The county junior men will be looking to take that form into their first big test tomorrow at Worcestershire.

Wiltshire have a good record in this national White Rose Trophy event in recent years, reaching the semi-finals at Worthing in both 2011 and 2013.

They lost to Huntingdonshire, the eventual winners, in 2011 while last year they accounted for Worcestershire, Dorset and Devon before losing 39-32 in the semi-finals to Surrey, who then lost in the final to Huntingdonshire.

Last year, Wiltshire beat Worcestershire 46-40 on their way to Worthing.

The U25 side that team manager Adam Tanner has named shows two changes to the one that lost in last year’s semi-final.

Tom Walkley (Wootton Bassett) and Wayne Snook (Holt) are now over-age so replacing them are Bassett’s Kyle Anderson and Westlecot’s Mike Titcombe Junior.
