ALUN Rossiter has tipped young Pole Piotr Pawlicki to go a long way in the sport, insisting he is just as big a threat as World Champion Tai Woffinden this evening.

The Robins take on Wolves at the Abbey Stadium, with Woffinden and Pawlicki the shining lights in a Wolves side Rossiter believes contains quality all the way through.

Having initially brought the younger Pawlicki and his brother Shamek into British speedway while with Coventry, Rossiter knows what the duo are all about and believes Piotr can continue to progress and make a real impact on the sport.

“It’s going to be a tough one for us tonight but one we need to be getting all three points from,” he said.

“They’re solid all the way through, I saw Piotr Pawlicki ride in Germany at the weekend and he’s certainly growing in stature, that’s for sure.

“He’s going to be one to watch and I really think he’s going to be a top rider. I brought both of them over to Coventry, they both rode for me there and I know all about them and I’ve been very impressed.

“Jacob Thorssell is going well and Ty Proctor is getting things together and scoring a few points. We’re going to have to be on our guard and don’t take anything for granted for sure.”

Rossiter has drafted in Frenchman David Bellego for tonight’s meeting in the absence of Dakota North, who is taking a break to allow his knee ligaments to recover from last week’s crash, and the Robins boss admitted the youngster is someone he admires.

“David’s someone I like and have been keeping tabs on for a while, and I’ve also considered him for a place if Dak’s going to be out any longer,” he said.

“Dak should only be out for a week but has to be 100 per cent right, there’s no good coming back from an injury like that if you’re not 100 per cent.”

Rossiter was pleased to get back to winning ways against the Lions last week but knows his side must now start to build some serious momentum to mount a move up the table.

He said: “We’re getting a bit of momentum going, although last week we must have run over a black cat or something because everything that could have gone wrong, did.

“We dug in deep which is what we needed to do and I am very pleased with the boys’ attitude and resolve at the moment.”

The first race tonight will begin promptly at 7.30pm, with parade commencing at 7.20pm.
