SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb says that he would look forward to playing Hereford United should they be placed in the same division next term.

The troubled Bulls were expelled from the Conference on Tuesday and have already approached the Southern League about gaining a place in the competition.

The league said in a statement: “The Southern Football League is in discussions with Hereford United FC to determine if there is a way forward for the club’s participation in its competition and will make a further statement in due course.”

Should the league agree to accomodate the Edgar Street side, it would be likely that they would have to start from the bottom.

Given their location it is highly likely that they would be placed in Division One South and West - the same as Supermarine.

And should that happen Webb would relish the opportunity to face the club that were plying their trade in League One just five years ago.

“They are a proper football club with a proper stadium,” the South Marston chief said. “If they do end up in our division then they are two fixtures you’ll be looking for.

“Given their situation you don’t know what kind of squad that they will have, but for the revenue and prestige it would be a great game.”

Meanwhile, Kyle Lapham has committed his future to the Webb’s Wood Stadium outfit following skipper Dave Bampton and new signing Ross Adams.

Adams completed his switch from Basingstoke on Tuesday night, while Mark Flanagan has also agreed to return.

Webb said “That is the back-four all signed up, but I want to have six, this is an area that we need to strengthen.”
