LEE Richardson says that home form will be key to any success for Swindon Wildcats after signing on for another season.

The 31-year-old utility man returned to the Link Centre side midway through the last campaign following a brief stint at Slough Jets.

But now Richardson is looking forward to an eighth consecutive campaign with Ryan Aldridge’s EPL side after penning a new deal at the weekend.

“I think the home form (from last season), we only dropped one game out of (the last) 15, was key,” Richardson told the Advertiser.

“The way the league is going to be this year it is going to be so tight, we have to win every home game to ensure that we are keeping up with everyone.

“Everyone is improving so we have got to try and up our game and match that, so we need to carry on the form from the last season and try win all your home games.

“To have that home form, especially on the Saturday, takes that bit of pressure off on a Sunday.”

Richardson said that he wasted little time in signing the new deal after a brief discussion with Aldridge.

“When the season was done, this was where I wanted to be,” he said. “I just wanted to make sure that it was all sorted.

“I met Ryan once and it was all sorted - I’m pleased to be back and ready to start again.

“The squad doesn’t have so many new faces yet, but it wasn’t broken last year so why fix it?

“It was a good team last year, we had guys at the right age mixed in with younger and older guys, it was all good.

“But that does add a tiny bit of pressure as well, the way we were winning games at home, everyone was excited from it but we just have to make sure that we don’t relax – we have to keep building and building and take it from there.”
