SWINDON WILDCATS: Bullas biting back for Cats
RETURNING Wildcat Sam Bullas is looking to bite back as he signs on for another season with Swindon Wildcats.
Cats announced the Link Centre favourite would be returning for his fifth season with the Swindon club yesterday.
Ahead of his return the 23-year-old former GB youth international has finally had an operation to remove his front teeth after damaging them in a collision playing at the World University Games.
Bullas had a brace put in after the injury so he could keep playing and avoid further damage but has taken the opportunity in the off-season sort the problem more permanently.
Speaking to the Advertiser Bullas said: “I lost two of my front teeth so I’ve got a bit of a lisp at the moment.
“I lost them at Christmas playing for GB, they patched them up at the time and put a brace on.
“I’ve had an operation so they’re out now and I’m going to get them permanently replaced at some point.
“It happens, it’s a full contact sport that takes a lot from the body but I’ve got a month off now to get ready for the new season.”
The injury has not curbed Bullas’s enthusiasm for the start of the new ice hockey term and the former Nottingham man is delighted to be back with Cats.
“I’m happy to be back for my fifth season, Aldy (Ryan Aldridge) has already started putting together a fantastic team.
“I’ve been at Swindon a long time, I know the guys very well, it’s like a second home and a second family down there now.
“To be honest we need to start how we were finishing last year, we’ve kept the core of that side together.
“At the end of last year we proved to everyone in the league we’re a strong team.
"I feel like the team has unfinished business after the end of last season and the team so far looks great.
"We were robbed of bringing home some silverware last year and this season will be all about continuing to improve and it's about time we brought some trophies back to Wiltshire."
The signing brings the clubs 2014-15 roster up to eleven players with seven forwards included in the ranks so far.
