TOWN boss Mark Cooper was satisfied with his side’s performance in their 1-0 loss to Doncaster Rovers and thought his side should have got something out of the game.

Michael Smith missed a penalty and Andy Williams fired wide when one-on-one as Theo Robinson’s first half penalty was enough to end Town’s five-game winning run.

It was a poor display from Cooper’s side who regularly misplaced passes and made poor decisions when it appeared they could fashion a chance. Doncaster were little better and that Swindon were able to create enough chances to have got at least a point is indicative of the away side's display.

However the County Ground chief was not too displeased with what he saw and chose to focus on some of the baffling decisions made by referee Kevin Johnson.

“Second half we had enough opportunities or situations to get something out of the game,” said Cooper.

“We had a penalty and we have a clear one-v-one, we need to score one of those and we get something out of the game. I was fine with the performance and sometimes it happens that it wasn’t our day.

“We try to fast and slick with our passing but something’s happened to the pitch and slowed us down a little bit. One of them days, we won’t dwell too much on it. I thought the performance was fine and we should be sat having at least a point.

“You can always do more. Teams are not going to come here and make it easy for us, they played five in midfield and made it difficult. We’re not playing against mugs, we’re playing against a team of good players. Second half I thought we played fine and deserved to and should have got something out of the game.

“The referee has made an atrocious decision to give (Doncaster) a penalty. The clue is usually which direction the ball goes in when the defender makes the tackle and it goes towards the corner flag. I’ve seen it again and it’s a fantastic tackle from Jordan Turnbull. The referee for some reason gives an amazing decision and we give Doncaster something to hang on to.

“(For the Swindon penalty) I saw a pull-back, it was a definite pull-back but how many of them do you see in a game?

“I thought the referee’s performance in the first half was staggering, some of the decisions. We did well not to get anyone sent from the technical area on both sides today, I thought that was the biggest bonus from the game.

“The fourth official had his work cut out, even he was struggling to explain some of those decisions.”
