SWINDON coach Sean Lynn was chuffed to see his side take the derby spoils against local rivals Trowbridge last weekend.

Lynn’s men came out on top as they locked horns with their promoted county rivals, who claimed national glory last term as they won the RFU Intermediate Cup at Twickenham, at Greenbridge Road on Saturday, running out 28-23 winners.

Oliver Taylor ran in two tries whilst Tom Mannion and Troy Badenski also went over the line for the home side as they notched up a third successive victory and Lynn was left delighted as his team suitably built on their narrow victory over title-chasing Towcestrians a week earlier.

“The chat before the game was that we were underdogs going in to the Towcestrians game and after winning that one, we had to make sure we came up with another good result,” said the Swindon boss.

“Whenever you’re playing in a local derby, it always adds a bit of spice, but it was a very well-contested game. Trowbridge were a very well-drilled side.

“We went for 80 minutes and in the end, that tolled. Oliver Wilson scored two tries and was very good and Tom Mannion was outstanding with his ball carries.”
