ANDY Williams is looking forward to the prospect of not having to travel across the country today.

With Swindon making the short trip up the A419 to Cheltenham Town for the opening round of the FA Cup, the striker knows that his side could have had a much worse away draw.

Exeter City travelled to Northern League Division One side Warrington Town last night, while the County Ground men could quite have easily found themselves at Blyth Spartans.

“It’s a decent draw for us,” Williams said. “You can get some horrendous draws where you have to travel half way across the country.

“In the respect of location, Cheltenham is only half an hour down the road, which is nice and, for me, personally my family live a little bit closer that way so hopefully it will be a little bit closer for them to get to the game and come and watch me play.

“It’s nice to have a local game, especially with the way things are done at the moment you don’t want to be travelling a long distance on the morning of a game.

“It’s nice to just have a half hour trip down the road.

“There are a few teams like (Warrington), Carlisle and all the other names in the hat that are miles away. You’re quite happy not to get them.

“Inevitably if we win on Saturday a draw that will come out, thanks to what I said, will be a lot further away. For the time being we’re quite happy with the way things have gone.”

The striker, who has scored five of his eight goals coming off the bench this term including the late winner against Preston on Tuesday night, will be hoping that boss Mark Cooper will rotate his side so he can face the League Two outfit.

“Possibly (the cup offers the chance for the manager to rotate), that would be a decision for him. I know he’s done that for the JPT in the past, so whether he’ll see the same opportunity for the FA Cup I’m not sure,” Williams said.

“Don’t get me wrong they’re a good side and they’ll be a tough side to play, but usually Whaddon Road’s got a good pitch so that will suit us as well.

“They’ll be an ex-Swindon player there in Rafa De Vita who’ll want to prove a point against us possibly.”
