GOING ‘under the radar’ has been a buzz phrase around the County Ground of late, but goalkeeper Wes Foderingham admits that their ‘devastating’ form renders any hope of Town remaining League One’s quiet success story a forlorn hope.

Swindon have now won five games on the bounce, having made light work of Notts County at the weekend, with only a late strike from Bristol City’s Luke Ayling, three minutes from time against Crawley, denying the Robins from perching on top of the pile this week.

Foderingham is happy to be hovering in their local rivals’ shadow for the time being and is relishing the pressure that is coming from Town’s success.

“Obviously Bristol City are doing really well at the top of the league and we are right behind them now and I am sure everyone can see that,” he said.

“I think everyone knows the way we are playing now and they have seen how devastating it can be through the results and the performances.

“If you are at the top, you are there to be shot at. Everyone wants your position and I am sure Bristol City will say the same thing.

“We’re happy in second at the minute and we’ll stay in touching distance if we can and hopefully we’ll be able to do it until the end of the season.

“If you want to be the best player or play at the best teams you are going to be under that pressure, so it is not a bad environment to be in.

“It is good that we are getting recognition for what we are doing and the way we are playing now.”

Cooper’s young side have continue to defy the pre-season predictions, where many had them down to finish in the middle of the pack.

Instead they have raced to 41 points, a feat that took them until the end of January to reach last season, but Foderingham says the players are not getting complacent and will keep pushing to win every game.

“I think at the start of the season we didn’t expect to be here,” added the keeper.

“It is better than being at the bottom of the league so we’ll take it. We’re working hard, so it is good that we are getting the benefits now.

“We know we don’t have a right to be at the top of the league, it is all sort of new to us and we are enjoying it and it is a feeling we want to last so we are not going to take it for granted.

“We’ll do our best and keep the performances going and hopefully by the end of the season we’ll be up there.”
