A NEW supermini will be in showrooms at Pebley Beach Hyundai from the beginning of next month.
The Hyundai i10, the smallest model in the Hyundai range, joins its bigger brother, the i30, and precedes the i20 hatchback, due later in the year.
Both the i30 and i10 are being vaunted for their green credentials, having been named by What Green Car, the independent guide to green cars in the UK, in the Top 10 list of green wheels' in 2008.
Dominic Threlfall, co-director of Pebley Beach, said: "The combined economy of the i10 is in excess of 60mpg while CO2 emissions are 119g/km.
"This is low enough to qualify the i10 for a £35 road tax and exemption from the new London Congestion Charge proposals.
"The i10 is designed to be fun-to-drive, affordable and practical while offering quality and equipment that - at under £6,500 on the road - no rival can offer at the price.
"With diminutive dimensions of just 3,565mm long and 1,595mm wide, the i10 promises to be easy to thread through city traffic and a pleasure to park in tight car parks.
"Wheels are pushed deep into corners to maximise interior space, meaning the i10 has five seats and five doors despite its compact size."
Nationally, i10 has been garnering rave reviews.
Autocar said: "The Hyundai i10 will stand out from the class with its impressive cabin quality, and generous levels of standard equipment. It'll be the first car in the A-segment to get air conditioning as standard; electric front windows, central locking, electric power steering, tinted glass, 14in alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers and a six-speaker CD player also come on every car."
The Sun's motoring column dubbed the supermini "the i10 out of 10".
There are some great deals to be had on the whole Hyundai range this spring. The i30 family hatchback is available at £10,995 on the road with zero per cent interest. The Getz, which gives way later this year to the i20, is available from £6,495 and the Amica, which is making way for the i10, is available from £4,995. All Hyundai cars come with a five-year warranty.
