Santa Claus is coming to town – or 200 Santas, to be precise.
That’s what fundraisers at Prospect Hospice are hoping for when they launch their first ever Santa Collection Day later this year –and they’re looking for as many people as possible to join them for what promises to be a fantastically festive fundraiser on 9 December.
The Santa Collection Day sees people from across the region dressing as Santa to collect donations from wherever they happen to be that day – their place of work, office, pub, community centre or even in the street. Everyone who registers will receive an ID card, a collection bucket and a Santa suit, and participants can spend as few or as many hours as they like during the day collecting much-needed funds for the charity.
Sheryl Crouch, head of fundraising at Prospect Hospice, says: “What we’re really hoping for is to have lots of Father Christmases all across Swindon and North Wilts collecting money for us on the same day – it would be fantastic if we could get 200 people to do it.
“The good thing about it is that you don’t need to stand in the street or go door-to-door, or vary your normal routine during the day to do it, or even take a day off work. You simply dress as Santa for the day, take a collecting bucket with you and collect money from whoever you meet."
If you are keen to don the big man’s red suit for the day and help raise funds for Prospect, please visit www.prospect-hospice.net/santa Based on information supplied by Ben Holloway.
