Cllr Dale Heenan, a resident of Covingham, As Councillor's we have continued to keep pressure on the decison makers at the Highways Agency, and challenged them on a regular basis to keep the Sound Barrier project moving. In August, Cllr Smith sent those in charge a petition signed by the residents most affected to remind the Agency that the increasing levels of traffic on the A419 were affecting people's lives and the value of their homes.
I contacted the Project Team Leader again before Christmas for an update, and I'm very pleased to say that the Highways Agency have received approval to construct both the Covingham and Kingsdown Sound Barriers in the next Financial Year!
A date for a public exhibition of the plans is still to be determined, but we will ensure that local residents are fully informed when it is agreed.
Cllr Glenn Smith, The plans are to protect the stretch from the Dorcan Industrial Estate boundary with the housing of Gifford Road to opposite the first building at Nythe Farm, along the verge of the Northbound side.
