Coun Parry brings you the latest ward news

I would like to take this opportunity to give a very warm welcome to our new Neighbourhood Policing Team Community Beat Manager, WPC Rachel Barnett, who has taken over from PC Ben Collier.

I would like to thank PC Collier for all of his hard work in the Ward and wish him every success in his new role.

I very recently met with WPC Barnett in order to discuss the Ward issues. We had a very productive meeting and it became very clear that we share the same aspirations in terms of what we would like to achieve in the Ward. We have built up a very good working relationship with our Neighbourhood Policing Team over the last six months and WPC Barnett and I are very keen to continue to build upon this. I am delighted to announce that the road resurfacing work in Hewitt Close was completed on Wednesday of this week. The footpaths in Hewitt Close are due to be resurfaced in the New Year.

The shrubbery in the raised bed in Bowleymead Square has been completely cut back. This has made a tremendous improvement to the square.

Hewitt Close and Bowleymead Square were concerns that were raised to me whilst I was canvassing earlier this year. Hopefully, this will be a fine example of how residents’ concerns are taken very seriously and are acted upon wherever possible.

If you should experience any problems in the Ward or have any issues you would like to discuss, please feel free to contact me on 07914 309291 or E-mail at kparry@swindon.gov.uk. Also, our Surgery doors are wide open to all residents in the Ward on the first Saturday of every month. The Police are always in attendance (unless exceptional circumstances should arise). Our next Ward Councillors’ Surgery shall be on Saturday 3rd January 2009 (Eldene Community Centre 9.45 am – 10.45 am and Liden Community Centre 11.00 am – 12.00 noon).

You can find local information on our website at www.dorcanintouch.com.

Please could I ask all local residents to keep an eye on all elderly neighbours at this time of year and to be conscious of any unusual lack of activity.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
